I am back to shooting one of my favorite subjects again, my hometown, Warsaw, Indiana. Warsaw is growing fast. I only hope that I can capture some moments in time, which people can look back on and say, “Wow, I remember when that was still there”. I enjoy Black & White photography, as I feel it has a certain “moving” character to it, that can uniquely stir your emotion. If you have the time, please feel free to check out the gallery. Here are a few samples.

Added: 2011 Hartford City Civil War Reenactment Gallery

I finally got some time to process the images I shot at the 2011 Hartford City Civil War reenactment.
It was a beautiful day with plenty of sunshine. As always, the reenactors were excellent and in full character.
I spent some time this year speaking with “Jefferson Davis”. It was a pleasure to spend some time with him and learn more about reenacting and his character.

I would like to thank all of the reenactors for allowing me to photograph them. The reenactors at Hartford City put on a great event each year. If you have not been to the event, I highly recommend it. It is not only entertaining but educational.

If you have some time please take a look at the Gallery, as I am sure you will enjoy it.

Here is some information on Mr. Davis:
Jefferson Finis Davis (June 3, 1808 – December 6, 1889), also known as Jeff Davis, was an American statesman and leader of the Confederacy during the American Civil War, serving as President for its entire history. He was born in Kentucky to Samuel and Jane (Cook) Davis.
On February 9, 1861, after he resigned from the United States Senate, Davis was selected to be the provisional President of the Confederate States of America; he was elected without opposition to a six-year term that November. During his presidency, Davis took charge of the Confederate war plans but was unable to find a strategy to stop the larger, more powerful and better organized Union. His diplomatic efforts failed to gain recognition from any foreign country, and he paid little attention to the collapsing Confederate economy, printing more and more paper money to cover the war's expenses. Historians have criticized Davis for being a much less effective war leader than his Union counterpart Abraham Lincoln, which they attribute to Davis being overbearing, controlling, and overly meddlesome, as well as being out of touch with public opinion, and lacking support from a political party (since the Confederacy had no political parties). His preoccupation with detail, reluctance to delegate responsibility, lack of popular appeal, feuds with powerful state governors, inability to get along with people who disagreed with him, neglect of civil matters in favor of military ones—all these shortcomings worked against him.
After Davis was captured on May 10, 1865, he was charged with treason. Although he was not tried, he was stripped of his eligibility to run for public office; Congress posthumously lifted this restriction in 1978. While not disgraced, he was displaced in Southern affection after the war by the leading Confederate general Robert E Lee. However, many Southerners empathized with his defiance, refusal to accept defeat, and resistance to Reconstruction. Over time, admiration for his pride and ideals made him a Civil War hero to many Southerners, and his legacy became part of the foundation of the postwar New South.
In spite of his former status as the president of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis began to encourage reconciliation by the late 1880s, telling Southerners to be loyal to the Union.

Galleries

Learing how Rapid Weaver “thinks”.
This is much easier and modern than working with Dream Weaver in Windows.
Granted it may not be as powerful (might be), but it does everything I want with much more ease.
Now I need to touch up and redo some galleries.

New Rapid Weaver Website Uploaded

After two weeks with the new iMac and two days with Rapid Weaver software, I was able to create this new website.
Loving the iMac and Apple in general.
The transition phase was a bit of a hill for an old time Windows/DOS user, but the effort was well worth it.
If you have ever considered making the switch.
Just do it and don’t look back.
